Continuing the growth momentum of the previous year, in the first days of the Lunar New Year of Quy Mao 2023, Phu Yen tourism industry was busy welcoming domestic and international visitors to travel in the spring. From the 1st to 5th of the Lunar New Year, Phu Yen tourism industry welcomed 94,920 visitors, 2.2 times higher than the same period last year, including 510 international visitors.
The weather in the first days of the year was quite favorable for spring trips. Reporters' notes and quick reports from tourism, accommodation, dining, entertainment, and tourist destinations informed that during the Tet holiday, Phu Yen attracted and welcomed a very large number of visitors to have fun, check-in, use the service. Check-in points such as Youth park, marine park - Nghinh Phong tower, scenic spots and relics in the province such as Da Dia Reef, Nhan Tower, Bai Mon - Mui Dien...; tourist attractions, entertainment, food such as cultural and tourism space Quang Duc Xua, Hon Xua, eco-tourism site of Jrai Tang waterfall (Ea Trol commune, Song Hinh district)... were very crowded of guest. In some places, many times there was internal overload.
According to Ms Nguyen Thanh Thuy, the owner of Moc Mien Rocky Garden and Jrai Tang waterfall tourist attraction, last year guests booked rooms and services before Tet, this year until the days near and during Tet, guests from different places closed the service. “The number of tourists this year is quite large, rushing during the Tet holiday and the whole January. Moc Mien homestay chain and Jrai Tang waterfall eco-tourism site continue to receive guests from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and also international guests. Tourists are very interested in agricultural and rural tourism products and experience the countryside, indigenous culture, and the space of mountains and forests, completely natural waterfalls", emphasized Ms. Thanh Thuy.
During the Tet holiday, hotels in Tuy Hoa city were almost full. According to statistics of the Sub-Department of Tourism Management (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism), in the first 5 days of of the Tet (from the 1st to the 5th of the Lunar New Year), tourists at accommodation establishments reached 58,850 turns, twice as much as the same period last year. The average occupancy rate was about 62%, especially at large-scale hotels and hotels near the sea, reaching 95-100%. Tourism revenue reached 132.8 billion VND, 2.6 times higher than the same period last year, of which accommodation revenue reached 29.4 billion VND, 2 times higher than the same period last year. Mr Le Duy Long, Sales and Marketing Director of Rosa Alba Resort informed: “We are very pleased with the signal of increased tourist arrivals in the first days of the year. Hopefully, the situation will continue to grow well in the new year of 2023.”
Phu Yen tourism is gradually shaping to become an attractive destination for tourists to choose. Phu Yen tourism keyword is in the top 10 trending tourism keywords on Google search engine, ranked third on the rankings, which is a good sign. This shows that localities with rich and diverse natural resources, famous scenic spots with majestic and unspoiled natural scenery are the trend of tourists. In 2023, continuing to develop the recovery momentum of the previous year, the target of Phu Yen tourism industry is to strive to welcome 2.4 million visitors (including 15,000 international visitors).
According to Ms Nguyen Thi Hong Thai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the large number of tourists in the first days of the year is a good sign, and it is expected that the whole industry will continue to grow strongly in the new year. To achieve the set goals, the industry deploys many tasks and solutions. In particular, a number of key tasks and solutions such as advising the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) to issue documents, programs and plans, closely follow the Action Program of the Provincial Party Committee on tourism development investment in the 2021-2025 period, striving to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector of the province by 2030. The Department advises the PPC to request the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to carry out the planning of key monuments and scenic spots; interested in investment, restoration and embellishment of relics and landscapes in the province.
