(TITC) - On 13th March 2022, Dien Bien Province held the opening ceremony of the Ban (Bauhinia) flower Festival 2022 at 7/5 Square, Dien Bien Phu City. The festival takes place from 12th to 14th March 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee said, since 2014, Ban (Bauhinia) flower Festival has been organised by Dien Bien Province in mid-March every year. Up to now, the festival has become a typical cultural and tourist brand name of the province, welcomed and loved by a large number of people and tourists across the country. The Ban (Bauhinia) flower Festival is even more meaningful when it opens on 13th March, the moment that 68 years ago, the Vietnam People's Army fired the first shot to launch the Dien Bien Phu campaign and the Dien Bien Phu Victory became well-known all over the world.
The Festival not only shows the blooming of Ban flower, a unique symbolic flower of the Northwest mountains, but also is an opportunity to honour, preserve and promote the unique traditional values of the community of 19 ethnic groups in Dien Bien Province; promote the natural beauty, cultural and tourism potentials of Dien Bien Province in particular and the Northwest region in general to people, domestic visitors and international friends.
This is also an opportunity for Dien Bien Province to strengthen and expand connections with other provinces, cities and business communities in cooperation, investment and trade promotion, renewal of tour routes, and promote local socio-economic development in the near future. The spread of the Ban flower Festival contributes to the success of the goal of bringing tourism to be a key economic sector of the province, creating a driving force for growth and restructuring.
Dien Bien Province is blessed with many majestic and poetic landscapes such as the Northwest Muong Thanh granary, the legendary Pha Din Pass, Pa Khoang Lake, the poetic landscape of Muong Lay and primitive rocky mountains of Tua Chua. Dien Bien has been and will continue to preserve, promote and spread endogenous values, turn potential and advantages into a driving force to promote tourism in particular and socio-economic in general to develop quickly and sustainably.
With potentials and advantages as well as open-up policies, road and air traffic infrastructures having been gradually upgraded, Dien Bien Province expects and calls for domestic and international businesses and investors to pay attention to and choose Dien Bien as an investment destination in the field of services, tourism and other potential fields..
Attending the ceremony, the delegates enjoyed a special art performance with the theme “Sparkling Ban Flower”, consisting 3 chapters: “Sparkling Ban Flower”, “The Northwest Dance” and “Welcome to Dien Bien”. The entire performance has 12 performances, 2 reportage videos to clearly show the beauty from legend, history to the present, the future of the land of Ban flower, present a dynamic and developing Dien Bien with the rich hospitality, appealing for investors and visitors, etc.
Previously, in the festive atmosphere, from 12th and 13th March, several events were also held in Dien Bien City such as: the opening of the exhibition to introduce cultural and tourism products; Exhibition “Following the General’s Footprints” at Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum, etc.
