Located within Ba Be National Park in Bac Kan Province, Puong Cave captivates visitors with its pristine beauty and an array of stalactites and stalagmites in various shapes and colors. This natural wonder is a testament to the enchanting landscapes of northern Vietnam.

Puong Cave was formed by the Nang River carving its way beneath the Lung Nham limestone mountain. The cave extends 300 meters in length, rises over 30 meters in height, and averages 30 meters in width. Inside, visitors are greeted by towering vertical cliffs and intricate stalactites that display a unique array of shapes and colors. The cave is also a habitat for 23 species of bats, numbering in the tens of thousands.
To reach Puong Cave, visitors can take a motor boat or a dugout from Buoc Lom Dock, traveling about one kilometer downstream along the Nang River. For those seeking a more immersive experience, a journey by dugout allows for a closer connection with the surrounding mountain and forest scenery while drifting along the river.
The pristine beauty of Puong Cave
Exploring Puong Cave typically takes around two hours. As visitors venture deeper into the cave, it becomes darker, but the reflections of the stalactite formations in the water create a mesmerizing sight, making the adventure truly memorable.
Puong Cave also features two adjacent caves known as Tren Cave (Upper Cave) and Duoi Cave (Lower Cave), locally referred to as Puong Tenh and Puong Tau, or Puong Nam. Inside Puong Cave, there is a fairly flat alluvial ground where boats can dock, and the paths are easy to negotiate, making it accessible for all visitors.
