(TITC) - This is a bright sign from the beginning of the Year 2022 for the tourism industry post COVID-19 pandemic severe affection, emerging a positive recovery in 2022.
A massive number of visitors to Ba Den Mountain - Tay Ninh Province on Tet holiday 2022
Specifically, during 9 days of Tet holiday (from 29th January 2022 to 6th February 2022), the tourism industry has welcomed and served approximately 6.1 million domestic visitor arrivals, including 3.2 million overnight arrivals at tourist accommodations; total tourism receipts is estimated at more than 25 trillion VND.
Remarkably, during 9 days of Tet holiday, the number of domestic visitors exceeded the number of visitors in December 2021 (5.2 million arrivals) and not lesser than the number of domestic visitors in January 2020 (7.3 million arrivals) - before the outbreak of the pandemic. Some destinations received a sudden increase in the number of visitors, exceeding or approaching the number of visitors on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Rat 2020.
Jubilant tourism activities in localities across the country
Tay Ninh Province is the local welcoming the largest number of visitors with 595,000 arrivals; room occupancy is about 65%. Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province welcomed about 420,000 arrivals, total receipts reached VND358 billion; hotel occupancy of 3-5 star standard achieved 97%. Lam Dong Province welcomed nearly 300,000 arrivals, including 120,000 overnight visitors, an increase of over 128.9% compared to the same period of last year; tourist accommodation occupancy reached over 95%. Quang Ninh Province welcomed about 290,000 arrivals, an increase of 3 times than the same period of last year; total receipts achieved about VND400 billion; 4-5 star hotel occupancy reached 80-90%. Lao Cai Province welcomed about 86,000 arrivals, including Sa Pa Town received 74,388 arrivals.

3 big tourism centres are Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi and Da Nang, which also welcomed a big wave of tourists. Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 280,000 arrivals, including 200,000 visitors to sightseeing spots, total receipts reached VND3,100 billion; room in 4-5 star hotel occupancy was about 40-45%. In the Ha Noi area, tourist attractions, museums and parks such as: Tan Da Spa Resort, Ao Vua tourist site, Hanoi Zoological garden, etc. have been opened with activities that have attracted many domestic tourists who were mainly residents of the capital and came from a number of neighbouring provinces such as Ha Nam, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An… It is estimated, during 9 days of Tet holiday, Ha Noi Capital City welcomed over 105,000 arrivals; room occupancy reached 22,4%. Da Nang welcomed 35,000 arrivals, an increase of 16,71% compared to the same period of 2021, in which overnight tourists achieved 25,500 arrivals, an increase of 6 times than the same period of last year. The total number of domestic flights to Da Nang were 404 flights.
Sea island resort tourism is a product that attracts domestic tourists during this Tet holiday. Kien Giang welcomed 98,000 arrivals; room occupancy reached about 56.3%; Phu Quoc Island alone welcomed 79,000 arrivals; room occupancy reached 71.3%. Khanh Hoa welcomed 98,610 arrivals, an increase of 2.5 times compared to the same period of last year. Total tourism receipts achieved VND524 billion, tourist accommodation occupancy reached 72.8%, superior class (4-5 star standard) mainly “fully booked”.
Tourism businesses expect the recovery of tourism in 2022
Some big tourism businesses such as Vietravel, Saigontourist, Fiditour… recorded many positive signs when the number of customers booking tours from 2-4 days accounted for a large amount. The number of visitors is mainly from the Ho Chi Minh City market.

As estimated, the number of tourists on Tet holiday 2022 received a higher increase compared to the New Year holiday 2022 in all tour itineraries, including business delegation and individual tourists.
Tourism businesses are expecting to receive positive signs on the Tet holiday occasion this year, when the number of tourists book tours, hotels increase sharply, creating a momentum for the recovery of tourism business.
It is a promising year for the tourism industry to strongly recovery, affirming its position as a key economic sector of the country.
