Hanoi welcomed 16.9 million tourists during the eight months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 36.2%, announced by the Hanoi Municipal Department of Tourism, on August 28.
Hanoi's beauty during autumn is an advantage for tourism development.
In particular, the number of international visitors reached 2.79 million, up 4.6 times over the same period last year.
The capital city’s total revenue from tourism was 61.6 trillion VND (over 2.5 billion USD), an increase of 63.1% compared to the same period last year.
The figures affirmed the attractiveness of Hanoi tourism to domestic and international friends, as well as the efforts made by the capital city’s tourism sector to attract more visitors, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city currently has 3,765 tourist accommodation establishments with 70,218 rooms, including 603 hotels rated from 1-5 stars.
With this number of accommodation establishments, Hanoi can meet the increasing tourist demand in the near future. In the first eight months of 2023, the average occupancy rate of the hotel sector was estimated at 61.4%, up 28.5% over the same period in 2022.
To create an image of an attractive destination, the Hanoi Municipal Department of Tourism has actively developed products and promoted cooperation in market promotion and development; worked with agencies and units to develop agricultural and rural tourism and economic development models; developed the pilot of community-based tourism models, associated with practical experiences in craft villages and tourist destinations, associated with traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in Ba Vi District.
In addition, the Department has surveyed and developed a waterway tour connecting tourist destinations on the Red River Delta and worked with districts to research and propose to open new models of cultural tourism and craft villages.
