Comrade Nguyen Hong Ky, Secretary of the An Hoa Hai Youth Union, said: In addition to cleaning, collecting waste, and planting trees in coastal areas, the commune also strengthened propaganda to a large number of people and aquaculture households about environmental protection in coastal areas, littering, and wastewater in the right places, especially limiting plastic waste... Along with the formation of a monthly environmental protection youth team to clean up the marine environment, the commune also mobilized hundreds of union members and young people to regularly carry out the "Clean up the Sea" campaign, as well as volunteer activities such as "Volunteer Saturdays" and "Green Sundays," all aimed at cleaning and collecting waste along the coast.
As an area with many means of exploiting aquatic products at sea, the Vung Ro Border Gate Guard Station and the unit cooperated with mass organizations of Hoa Xuan Nam commune and Dong Hoa town to propagate and encourage shipowners and vehicle owners to buy and install garbage containers and collect waste on board; the process of exploiting and operating at sea does not throw waste, dump waste into the sea, bring it to the place of collection, conduct classification and treatment to ensure both hygiene and the protection of the marine environment,etc.
Mr Tran Van Dung, a member of the safety production team in Vung Ro village, stated: "After each fishing trip, our fishermen not only bring back fish and shrimp but also collect waste to bring ashore for proper disposal. Through local activities of preserving and protecting the marine environment and border guards at Vung Ro Border Gate Guard Station, people have raised awareness in environmental protection, not dumping garbage, discharging arbitrarily, and limiting the situation of fishing to preserve resources and protect the marine environment".
In response to the "Clean up the Sea" and "Youth Join Hands to Fight Against Plastic Waste" campaigns, the Provincial Youth Union has actively directed districts, towns, and cities to collaborate on marine environmental cleanup efforts. To date, the province has established and effectively maintained 109 youth volunteer teams dedicated to environmental protection. These teams have organized various activities, such as launching environmental protection initiatives and tackling marine waste hotspots, engaging over 970,000 union members and young people in these efforts. Furthermore, youth unions and delegations under the Provincial Youth Union have implemented 25 models aimed at preventing and controlling plastic waste, as well as 22 models for waste sorting at the source. These activities are carried out regularly and consistently, creating a widespread impact. They not only contribute to the development of a green, clean, and beautiful marine tourism environment but also play a crucial role in raising public awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting the marine environment.
