(TITC) - Celebrating 190 years of establishment of An Giang Province (1832-2022), the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will organise the An Giang Caravan Tourism with the theme “An Giang - The colourful border region”, from 2nd to 4th November 2022.
The event promises to offer visitors live and engaging experiences at tourist spots; at the same time, promoting local tourism attractions and creating positive effects to attract extra provincial tourists to An Giang.
Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep, Director of the An Giang Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, visitors join the Caravan will take a trip length of about 162km, passing through the following localities: Long Xuyen - Thoai Son - Tri Ton - Tinh Bien - Chau Doc. About 30 vehicles and 100 enterprises from Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta participate in this event. It is considered as the largest Caravan tour ever in An Giang Province and one of the meaningful activities to celebrate the 190 years of establishment of An Giang Province; a good opportunity to promote An Giang tourism, tourism products based on local historical and cultural values.

Accordingly, the Caravan tour group will kick off its journey from Long Xuyen City to Thoai Son District, then take the roundabout route of Sap Mountain and admire the whole view of Truc Lam An Giang Zen Monastery. After that, the group will move to Oc Eo Town, visit Oc Eo - Ba The special national relic site (about 450ha) with many rich and diverse relics. This is a special national relic, proving the existence of the Oc Eo culture, one of the three typical ancient cultures of Vietnam (along with the Dong Son and Sa Huynh cultures). Holding the cultural, historical, architectural, artistic and archaeological values of the Mekong Delta, Oc Eo - Ba The has become an important cultural tourism destination of An Giang Province and region.
Leaving Thoai Son District behind, the group will head to Tri Ton mountainous district - where lie many cultural, historical and beautiful natural landscapes. On this route, visitors surely can’t keep their eyes off the mesmerising Tram (syzygium cumini) field (Nui To commune).

After conquering Tram field, the group will head to Soai Chek Lake. This is the largest artificial lake area with extremely large and quiet space. The small road runs along Soai Chek lake with the lake on the right; Behind is the majestic Phung Hoang Son range, on the right is a golden rice field.
The lake at the foot of the mountain is an ideal place for nature lovers. Visitors can pay their visits to Ta Pa Pagoda and admire Ta Pa Lake - A beautiful scenic spot for photos and relaxation.
Tinh Bien District will be the next station of the Caravan tour group, here lies the Cam Mountain - considered as the roof of the South-West. Cam Mountain is located in An Hao commune, with an altitude of about 710m above sea level, also known as Thien Cam Son. This is the highest mountain of That Son region, a unique mountainous area of An Giang and the Mekong Delta.

Cam Mountain also has a beautiful natural landscape with fresh green grass and flowers in 4 seasons. Activities should not be missed include walking around Thuy Liem Lake, admiring the statue of Maitreya Buddha, Van Linh Pagoda, Phat Lon Pagoda and relics scattered in the Thien Tue (cycas pectinata), the Dau areas, Bo Hong Temple... or visit the "cloud market" and enjoy specialties, such as: crispy pancakes, mountainous crabs and snails…
On the Caravan route, the group will go to Tinh Bien International Border Gate, perform the flag-saluting ceremony at milestone 275. This milestone is a witness for the efforts of Vietnam and Cambodia in building their borderline of peace, friendship and cooperation for mutual development.
The journey will continue through Route 955A, Vinh Te Canal, Chau Doc City for conquest of Sam Peak. There is also a ensemble of historical and cultural relics ranked at national level, such as: Ba Chua Xu (Lady of Land) Temple on Sam Mountain, Thoai Ngoc Hau mausoleum, Tay An pagoda... around Sam Mountain.
